Holy Cross Wins the Wakakirri Best Drama Story Award

WAKA-WOW!!!

Our Wakakirri cast is extremely excited to announce that we received the ‘Best Drama Story Award’ for our performance of ‘Malala: A Fight for Rights’. This award was only announced last night and is given out after all of the NSW Regional Wakakirri Performances have been judged.  It means that we have been invited to perform at the prestigious Awards Night with a limited number of other Primary Schools who have also received special awards for their performances across the State.  The Awards Night is at the Quay Centre in Homebush (formerly known as the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre) on the evening of September 18 2018.

Wakakirri is Australia’s Largest Performing Arts Event for Schools with separate events for Primary and Secondary schools. Each year schools across Australia create Story Dances for Wakakirri that reflect student’s thoughts, ideas and aspirations. These stories are performed in professional theatres in front of the official ‘Wakakirri Panel’ who are searching for the ‘Story of the Year’ across our whole nation.

If you have not had the chance to see the Wakakirri Group perform their award winning entry they will be presenting their piece for the school community at this week’s assembly from 2:40pm in the school hall.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved…it’s so great to see all that hard work pay off with another chance to perform.
