Holy Cross Catholic Primary School is blessed to have modern facilities that enhance the learning environment for our students.
There are thirteen modern classrooms at Holy Cross Catholic School, comprising one Year 1 class and two classes of all other year groups from Kindergarten to Year Six. In 2013, we decided to convert the old St. Joseph’s Centre into a new kindergarten space shared by two classes utilising research into Early Learning and Inquiry Learning to give our students the best start to school life possible. Classrooms throughout the school were all totally refurbished in 2003 and each room has an interactive whiteboard, reverse cycle air conditioning, carpeting on the floors and a wet area with tiles and a sink. The school also has a dedicated Music Room and Japanese Room where the students experience lessons with a specialist teacher.
At the beginning of 2010, all classes were equipped with interactive whiteboards. Using the interactive whiteboards, teachers are able to manipulate text and images, save notes for later use, view websites, use templates to create lessons, use a variety of presentation tools to motivate and engage learners and much more. The interactive whiteboards allow learners to work collaboratively around a shared task.
There are two main playground areas at Holy Cross Catholic School. The upper playground level is a large asphalt area that has two full-sized basketball courts, handball courts, a passive deck area and a large space covered by shade sails.
The lower playground is grassed and provides a space for students to be active and play with a range of sporting equipment. There is also an area with playground equipment that includes slides and equipment for climbing and balancing.
There is a large, covered amphitheatre on the lower playground that provides a space for all students to eat and to play passively during their breaks.
Holy Cross Catholic School has a library, which is also known as the Learning and Resource Centre. There is a large selection of books and learning resources available for students to borrow. There is also a number of computers available for student use at all times. Students experience a dedicated library lesson each week with the school librarian and can also access the library during their lunch hour and with their class teachers when the library is available.
Information Communication and Learning Technologies (ICLT) is valued at Holy Cross Catholic School. Banks of laptops, Chromebooks and iPads are implemented into the classroom by teachers to enhance the learning and skill development of their students.
All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards.
